Cambridge Fibre

Why TrueFibre®

Full-fibre changes what your home connection can do. Same speed at peak as at midnight, identical upload and download, far more capacity than you will ever need — built and run by Cambridge Fibre.

Why TrueFibre®, in numbers

fewer faults than part-fibre broadband (Ofcom)
935 Mbps
symmetric upload and download on the gigabit plan
24/7
network monitoring from our Cambridge operations centre
10 Gbps+
future-proof on the same fibre — modem upgrade only

Four reasons it makes a difference

Built to stay up

Fewer copper joints in the street, fewer water ingress points, fewer things to go wrong. Up to five times fewer faults than part-fibre broadband (source: Ofcom). Most of our customers go years without thinking about their connection — which is the right outcome.

Symmetric in both directions

Same upload as download, on every home plan. Built for video calls, cloud backups, gaming, smart-home cameras, and the everyday work-from-home traffic that older broadband was never designed for.

Future-proof on day one

A pair of glass strands carries far more data than any household will reasonably need. The fibre we install today is the same fibre that will deliver tomorrow's services — 10 Gbps and beyond with only a modem upgrade.

Owned and run from Cambridge

We design, build, and maintain the fibre that reaches your home. No wholesale provider in the middle, no rented last mile. When you call, you reach our own Cambridge-based engineers — not an offshore call centre reading from a script.

About us

What makes TrueFibre® different

Most UK "Superfast Fibre" still relies on old copper running from the street cabinet into your home — what the industry calls "part-fibre". The fibre stops at the cabinet; the last leg is the same copper that has been there for decades.

Cambridge Fibre TrueFibre® is different. We run optical cable all the way into your home — no copper at any point, no "up to" speeds, no contention surprises.

The benefits

  • Up to five times more reliable than part-fibre broadband (source: Ofcom).
  • Guaranteed speed — no more misleading "up to" claims.
  • Symmetric bandwidth in both directions, from 200 Mbps to 935 Mbps.
  • Future-proofed. The same fibre carries 10 Gbps and beyond with only a modem upgrade.

Uploads matter as much as downloads

Older broadband was designed around downloads. Uploads were an afterthought — typically a tenth of the headline figure, or less. TrueFibre® treats both directions equally: the same fibre carries data both ways at the same speed.

That matters more every year. HD video calls, cloud backups, multiplayer gaming, doorbell and security cameras, smart-home gear, and the routine business of working from home all benefit when the path out of your house keeps up with the path in. Every Cambridge Fibre home plan is symmetric from the ground up.

Reliability and support, run from Cambridge

A network engineered to stay up

Our TrueFibre® network is monitored 24/7 from our Cambridge operations centre. In most cases, we know there is a problem before you do — and have an engineer on the way before the phone rings.

Ofcom reports that full-fibre connections suffer up to five times fewer faults than part-fibre services. Fewer copper joints in the street, fewer water ingress points, fewer things to go wrong.

Support from people who know your network

When you call us, you reach our own Cambridge-based engineers — not an offshore call centre reading from a script. No ticket ping-pong between tiers. Just engineers who understand the network because they helped build it.
