EthernetServices

High-bandwidth Ethernet circuits — between your sites, into our network, or out to the wider internet. Whatever shape your traffic needs to take.

One Ethernet handoff, the connectivity you need

Ethernet Services is the umbrella for everything we deliver over a high-bandwidth Ethernet circuit. The hand-off is the same — an optical port at your site, terminated on our network. What you do with it is up to you.

You can use it as a private layer-2 link between two of your offices, as a routed layer-3 service into our network, as a dedicated, uncontended feed to the wider internet — or all three at once over a single access port, separated by VLAN. Performance is guaranteed by SLA, bandwidth is symmetric and yours alone, and you choose the hand-off speed from 100 Mbps up to 100 Gbps and beyond.

The Ethernet Services umbrella

Five flavours, one network

Layer-2 topologies between your sites, layer-3 routed services into our network, and dedicated internet access — all delivered over the same Ethernet hand-off.

Layer-2 topologies — private connectivity between your sites

E-Line

Point-to-Point

A dedicated layer-2 link between two specific sites. The simplest and most common option — site A talks to site B, full bandwidth in both directions, nothing else on the wire.

Use it for: head office to branch, primary site to DR data centre, building to a cloud on-ramp.

E-LAN

Multipoint Mesh

Many sites all visible to each other as if on the same LAN. Add a new site and it joins the existing mesh — no new circuits between every pair.

Use it for: multi-building campuses, retail estates, organisations that move workloads freely between premises.

E-Tree

Hub & Spoke

One hub site reaches many spokes. Spokes can talk to the hub but not to each other — a clean boundary for branch networks and managed-service architectures.

Use it for: branch-office aggregation, managed-service delivery, broadcast and content distribution.

Layer-3 and Internet — routed services and dedicated internet access

Layer 3

Routed IP services

A routed hand-off where the IP layer lives in our network rather than yours. Public or private addressing, BGP if you want it, a clean L3 path between your sites and the wider world.

Use it for: organisations that prefer not to run their own routing, MSPs offering managed-service architectures, anyone who wants the routing complexity to be someone else's problem.

Internet

Dedicated Internet Access

High-speed, symmetric, uncontended internet — handed off as Ethernet at whatever speed you need. Static public IPs, and the bandwidth on the bill is the bandwidth you actually get.

Use it for: businesses that depend on the internet working reliably, organisations replacing a tired FTTC or FTTP feed, customers who need real upload performance.

Speed tiers

From 100 Mbps to whatever the optics will carry

Every tier is symmetric and uncontended. Pick what fits the workload today; we will engineer the access ports so you can grow into the next tier without re-trenching.

  1. 100 Mbps
Entry tier — back-up sites, light office use
  2. 1 Gbps
Most common — branch offices, mid-size businesses
  3. 10 Gbps
DC interconnect, large offices, busy campuses
  4. 25 / 40 Gbps
Aggregation and uplink for high-density sites
  5. 100 Gbps
Carrier extensions, major DCI, hyperscale on-ramps
  6. 400 Gbps+
Available over dark fibre on request

Reach

Local core, UK-wide footprint

Across Cambridge, the surrounding villages — Histon, Impington, Oakington, Bottisham, Stow-cum-Quy, the Wilbrahams — and out into Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds, your circuit lives entirely on our own fibre. Designed, built and operated by us. Routes are published, optical budgets are measured, and the engineers who fix it answer to a Cambridge phone number.

For sites further afield, we extend Ethernet over partner networks via NNI hand-offs at major UK interconnect points. The path stays L2, the SLA carries through, and you deal with one supplier — us.

What you get

A serious connectivity product, properly delivered

  • Symmetric, dedicated bandwidth

Full duplex at the headline rate. No contention with anyone else. The circuit performs the same on a quiet Sunday morning and a busy Wednesday afternoon.

  • Hand-offs to suit your kit

1000Base-LX, 10GBase-LR, 25 / 40 / 100 G coherent — whichever optic and LC, SC or E2000 connector your edge router or switch is happiest with.

  • VLAN tagging that works for you

Untagged, single-tagged or QinQ — your choice. Carry multiple isolated services over a single port if you need to.

  • Highest-availability SLAs

Our Ethernet circuits come with the highest availability SLAs we offer — designed around always-on service, measured against the physical access circuit rather than the office-hours of a remote support team.

  • Cambridge-based engineers

Your circuit is provisioned, monitored and fixed by people sitting in Cambridge. When something goes wrong on the access tail, they can be at your door, not on the end of an offshore phone tree.

  • A path to dark fibre

Every Ethernet customer is one swap away from dark fibre between the same endpoints. Outgrow the managed service and you can take ownership of the underlying glass.
