About Cambridge Fibre

Local full-fibre broadband, built by people who live and work here.

Cambridge Fibre was founded in 2016 with a straightforward aim: to build a modern full-fibre network for Cambridge and the surrounding area, and to provide a better kind of broadband service for the people who use it.

We are a local, independent company. Our staff are based in Cambridge, our network is built here, and our customers are often our neighbours, local businesses, schools, community organisations and people we may meet in everyday life. That matters to us. We care about the service we provide because our reputation is local too.

A different kind of broadband company

Many people are used to dealing with large national providers, distant call centres and support teams who have little knowledge of the local network. We work differently.

What you’re used to

  • Distant call centres in unfamiliar places
  • Support teams with no knowledge of the local network
  • Scripts, hold music and ticket numbers
  • Accountability that feels out of reach

What you get from us

  • You deal with our own team — we answer the phone ourselves
  • We know the network we operate, because we built it
  • Customer service taken seriously, not outsourced
  • Local accountability, because our reputation is local too

We are not trying to be the biggest broadband company in the country. We are trying to be the best broadband company for the communities we serve.

Our own fibre

A network we built ourselves

At our heart, we are a fibre infrastructure company. Cambridge Fibre has invested in laying its own modern, full-fibre network across Cambridge, the surrounding villages — Histon, Impington, Oakington, Bottisham, Stow-cum-Quy, the Wilbrahams among them — and out into Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds, designed and operated by us.

Building infrastructure is a long-term commitment, and it is what lets us be a serious connectivity company. It shapes what we can promise, who we can serve, and how we answer when something needs answering — whether that is a family at home, a local business, an enterprise customer or a wholesale partner.

  • For homes

A connection built to be reliable, with a local team to look after it.

  • For small businesses

A serious connection delivered locally, with proper support behind it.

  • For enterprise

High-bandwidth Dedicated Internet Access and Ethernet, with the SLAs and capacity that come with it.

  • For carriers

Dark fibre and wholesale capacity for partners who want to light and operate it themselves.

Full fibre, properly delivered

We build and operate a full-fibre network, taking fibre optic cable directly into homes and business premises. Fast, reliable broadband with symmetric gigabit speeds, low latency and the capacity for modern life.

For households

Dependable broadband for working from home, streaming, gaming, video calls and everyday family use. Symmetric gigabit speeds with the headroom for whatever the family throws at it.

For businesses

A serious connection that can support cloud systems, remote working, VoIP, backups, hosted services and the increasing demands placed on a reliable internet connection.

Services for homes, businesses and carriers

Because we operate our own network, we can support a wide range of needs — from a family home wanting reliable Wi-Fi, to a local business wanting a robust connection with proper technical support, to carriers and larger organisations needing fibre infrastructure.

  • Residential broadband

Full-fibre broadband for the home, with reliable Wi-Fi, fast speeds and proper local support.

  • Business broadband

A robust connection for small and medium businesses, with a support team who understand it.

  • Dedicated Internet Access

Symmetric, uncontended bandwidth on dedicated fibre — the right product when downtime is costly.

  • Ethernet services

Point-to-point and multi-site Ethernet over our own network, for organisations that need it.

  • Dark Fibre

Unlit fibre for carriers and larger organisations who want to operate the optics themselves.

Independent, accountable and local

Cambridge Fibre is independently financed and has no venture capital backing. We take our regulatory responsibilities seriously — but we also believe accountability comes from being local. Broadband is now essential, so it needs to be reliable, properly supported and delivered with care.
